EBooks are electronic books that can be read by using a computer. You can search them, borrow, read, and return them, all via the Internet 24 hours a day, through the Library Catalogue, as well as from home computers via the library webpage.

Libraries on the Go  

To access our Libraries on the Go ebooks, you will need:

  • A valid library card
  • Access to the Internet
  • Free Adobe Digital Editions, (see webpage for detailed requirements)

NetLibrary ebooks are now available through "eBooks on EBSCOhost"

To access our eBooks on EBSCOhost, you will need:

Zinio Online Magazines

Full digital copies of almost 100 popular English and French magazines.

To access the magazines, you will need:

  • Valid library card
  • Access to the Internet using Internet Explorer 9 or higher, Google Chrome or Firefox
  • Create 2 accounts - Barrie Public Library Zinio account, and a Zinio. com account

Kids eReading Room - Libraries on the Go

The Kids eReading Room includes ebooks and audiobooks (both fiction and nonfiction) for elementary and middle school students, including early readers, chapter books, YA/Teen novels.

To access our Kids eReading Room ebooks, you will need:

TumbleBookCloud

TumbleBookCloud is an online collection of ebooks with audio read-along including chapter books, early readers, YA/Teen novels, for both middle and high schools students, plus classics of American and English literature.

To access our TumbleBookCloud:

  • No special software or downloading is required
  • Simply find a book, either by category or title
  • View Online
  • The text and audio run simultaneously
  • Visit the TumbleBookCloud website
